Sugar Sleuths: Sketchbook Pages 31 - 35

These next five pages are filled with math for the map. This is when I needed to shrink the map from 70 m to under 40 m. With that, I made sure every sprite maintained its relative position by doing conversions. #math. Admittedly, I don't recall why there's such a time gap between pages 30 and 31. It might have been due to my constant re-layering, which I kept tabs of in my journal and Google Docs.

Page 31: This page covers where the Counselor's Office would be placed in the map. This wasn't placed earlier because it's not an area the players can enter. The 300 m is the X position of Cabin 1 (Gummy's cute blue cabin), which is the furthest location on the map. I wanted to place the Counselor's Office between that and Cabin 2 (Bubbly's cute pink cabin), so I did some basic subtraction to get a value.

Random Note: Despite how many times I would be writing the word "counselor", I still need to look up how to spell it, haha.

Page 32: This page is an updated map labeled with the cabins' X positions. Cabin 4 is at 0 m because when we were first building in Unity, it was the first one there and our test player characters were standing at 0 m. The lake in the middle was really important, as it helped me placed the background cabins.

Page 33: This is a weird page; it's a folder to hold the loose paper (character cards, paper circle, old notes).

Page 34: This is a page dedicated to shrinking the map. I went from 70 m to 60 m to 55 m. The 55 m increments are labeled with the nine areas, with Cabin 4 (C4) at 0 m. The 27.5 m was for placing the background cabins right between each foreground cabin. It was a quick and easy way to place it at the time, as that wasn't exactly priority.

Page 35: This page is a continuation of the previous page. This page also covers the placement of the ground tiles that the players would be walking on. I made sure to explain the logic behind the ground tiles, as I used the cabins to measure their length in meters. I also broke down how the areas would loop and where their X position after completing a loop by going right.
